We’re looking forward to a wonderful season in 2012 the team will be working hard to ensure the gardens are in tip top shape for next spring. All is quiet in Glengarriff Harbour now as the boats are laid up for the winter and the gardens are closed to the public until April 2012.

Garinish is an old name for Garnish Island. Which means the near island in Irish.

Visitors can be confused as the Island is variously referred to as Ilnacullin, Garnish Island and locally it is also known as Garinish!

Whatever you decide to call it Garnish is a beautiful Island with wonderful gardens that you will enjoy! Take a trip by boat from Glengarriff Pier to the Island and enjoy the beauty of Bantry Bay and the wonderful rugged surrounding of Glengarriff Harbour.

Harbour Queen Ferries have the only class v licensed ferry running to Ilnacullin Gardens on Garnish (Garinish) Island in Glengarriff in West Cork. The service can accommodate tour groups of any size as we operate a fleet of covered waterbuses on a scheduled shuttle to the island. Our ferries are fully licensed by the Department of the Marine and our crews are highly experienced professionals.

The trip to the gardens on Garnish includes a magical wildlife cruise to Seal Island where your group will see the wild seal colony and be able to take great photos of seals basking on the rocks, diving for fish and popping up their heads in curiosity! The backdrop to the trip is very beautiful as Glengarriff Harbour is a beautiful tranquil bay with stunning mountain scenery.

Ilnacullin (Garnish, Garinish) Island is home to one of the most beautiful gardens in Ireland. The Ferry to Ilnacullin runs from the main Pier in Glengarriff every 30 minutes during the season.

The Island is laid out in a series of gardens which were designed by the garden designer Harold Peto in the early 20th century.
